Synopsis
After the post-Basel summer lull, the art world plunged into its autumn 2025 gauntlet of fairs from Seoul to Turin, bracing for what many feared would be a grim sales season. Even if galleries in Paris outperformed expectations, veteran Rive Gauche dealer Franck Prazan cautioned, “There are so many clusters within the market… and what was true yesterday might not be true tomorrow.” While the top end of the market fed off new whales, emerging galleries struggled. At the macro level, the fall made one thing clear: resilience is rewarded, but succees is increasingly uneven and dependent on where one stands in the market’s fragmented terrain.
