Synopsis
Although the name of the publication suggests something sexual, Suck was for a few years easily the coolest online platform in America. So I was delighted to write this piece on Viacom's launching a 30,000-square-foot merch emporium on Chicago's august Michigan Avenue. Spun from Viacom's most marketable brands - Star Trek, Nickelodeon, MTV, VH-1, Nick at Nite, and Paramount Pictures - the store offered what Viacom execs called an "immersive shopping experience." Little did I suspect that I was staring at the future of entertainment/retail.
