Synopsis
For the short-lived American design magazine One, I wrote this piece on the persistence of precise design in Switzerland, including: Luggage carts that ride down airport escalators; RFID ski passes (in 2001) and the Calatrava train station where every night "skylights pivot neatly downward like the jaws of a glass alligator slamming shut, sealing off the mall from vandals."
